The Exchange Takes Official HM Pub Guide 2006 Crown
The Exchange has taken the award for The Official HM Pub Guide of Hereford's Top Pub of 2006. Thanks for all of your votes.It was a keenly fought contest with Wetherspoon's taking the silver medal and The Rose & Crown and The Hop Pole sharing the bronze.

Hi there I have noticed the total votes. A little surprised at the top pub. Again, I've said it before each pub has very different attributes, socially for myself the Wye Inn is the best. I certainly will campaign for next years honour votes. Keep up the good work though, happy new year.
What a rubbish result to a rubbish poll. Goodness knows who votes in these things but to choose a pub that doesn't sell a decent pint and you have to trek upstairs on some rickety steps to the bogs has to be havin a laugh.
Or you are under 18 years of age and don't know any better!!!
Or you pick the pubs you can vote for so that the real character pubs don't get included !!!

Obviously there's no pleasing everyone. As for the anonymous comment about leaving the pubs with real character out- all you have to do is send us your ratings of the pubs in question, and we will reasses them (but as we are not biased towards any particular pub you may noy agree with the independant review).
the pubs WERE rated by members of the public. You chose to ignore them and pick YOUR top 10....hence YOUR bias.
Maybe the exchange would still have won if all pubs had been included...maybe not, we'll never know will we.
As to YOUR reassessment, that implies you are the experts on what people want.How the hell, for example, can you say the Barrells has a limited choice of drinks when to a proper beer drinker it has a fabulous choice!!
Not everyone wants pubs full of teenagers drinking alcopops...or plastic wetherspoon outlets that are identical in every city throughout the uk serving the same all day breakfasts!!!
As was unanimously pointed out to you on the fotie forums, your poll was a joke.
I went to the Barrels once - Was full of miserable sods supping their 'proper' beer. Give me my fizzy pop any day!

I can not see how they picked "YOUR" as we all had a chance to vote ( my vote was for the Exchange failing that I would have voted for pubs outside of the City centre.
As for the barrels for me its not my type of place, only been in there about 3 times and I thought the folk in there were not to my liking.
Each to there own and it it really worth haveing a childlike tantrum.
But people were not given the choice to vote as you didn't include all pubs in the poll...so it wasn't a fair poll was it !!!
Yes, i like the Barrells, i also like the Victory, the Lich...all proper pubs and none included in YOUR top ten that people were allowed to vote for, even though people who reviewed them gave vastly different marks to yourself, a confirmed not to your liking pub!!
Now you invited comments to be made so i'm making them.It's not a tantrum, but if you are making yourselves out to be the holy bible guide to pubs in Hereford then at least get the poll right and forget your personal bias.
